Yama

Yama was released as part of the Hyperia City expansion, a set that drew heavy inspiration from the aesthetic tropes of mid-nineties cyberpunk media. It was designed to function as a middle-tier character card, providing strategic utility for players looking to balance aggression with board stability. The design process focused on translating the gritty, neon-drenched atmosphere of the fictional Hyperia setting into a compact, illustrative format that could fit within the game's established mechanical ecosystem.

The character illustration was crafted to evoke a sense of utilitarian mystery, utilizing a muted color palette to contrast against the more vibrant, high-rarity cards in the set. Upon its release, Yama was generally received as a dependable, if unspectacular, staple for deck-building. Critics and long-time players noted that while the artwork effectively communicated the character's role in the lore, the card's uncommon rarity meant it was primarily valued for its practical role in gameplay rather than as a collector's centerpiece.
