Where it came from
Yax was released as part of the Hyperia City set, a science-fiction trading card game that debuted during the mid-2000s trend of atmospheric, world-building card properties. Designed to populate the bustling, dystopian metropolis that serves as the setting for the franchise, the character represents the intersection of urban grit and high-concept cyberpunk aesthetics common in the series.
The card was illustrated by the core design team responsible for the set's signature high-contrast, neon-infused visual style. It was categorized as an uncommon character, intended to provide strategic utility for mid-game deck builds. While the Hyperia City game eventually faded from the competitive market, the character design remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of early-millennium sci-fi artwork.
