Where it came from
Released in 2023 as part of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, this action card depicts a pivotal moment from the 1994 animated film The Lion King. The card serves as a narrative artifact within the game's mechanics, drawing its visual and thematic inspiration directly from the sequence where Mufasa’s spirit appears to Simba in the clouds to remind him of his true identity. It was produced by Ravensburger to establish the initial mechanical and lore-based foundation of the trading card game, aiming to capture the emotional depth of Disney's classic filmography.
The card's design and illustration reflect the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Lorcana line, utilizing vibrant, painterly art styles intended to evoke nostalgia among Disney enthusiasts. As an uncommon-rarity action card, it was distributed within standard booster packs and starter decks, receiving generally positive feedback from players for its ability to affect board states by banishing opposing characters. It stands as a representative example of how The First Chapter successfully integrated iconic cinematic imagery into a strategic tabletop framework.
