Where it came from
Another Round was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Outlaws of Thunder Junction. The card was designed to fit within the set's western-themed aesthetic, focusing on the mechanical theme of flickering creatures or permanents to re-trigger their entering-the-battlefield effects. The set itself was envisioned as a frontier-fantasy reimagining, blending classic tropes of the American West with the high-fantasy elements inherent to the Multiverse.
The visual direction for the card aims to capture the chaotic energy of a western saloon or a high-stakes standoff, consistent with the set's outlaw motif. While specific individual illustrator credits vary across the different art treatments and variants available for the card, the overall design was guided by Wizards of the Coast's internal creative team to ensure thematic cohesion with the desert landscape and rugged archetypes of the Thunder Junction plane. It received attention from players primarily for its utility in competitive Commander formats.
