Archon of Sun's Grace

The Archon of Sun's Grace was originally released as part of the Theros Beyond Death expansion in early 2020, a set deeply rooted in the mythology of the Greek-inspired plane of Theros. This particular variant, designated with the collector number 3s, was issued as a promotional card, often distributed through specialized events or as part of Wizards of the Coast's seasonal store support initiatives. The card embodies the ethereal, celestial aesthetic of the set, highlighting the interplay between enchantment mechanics and board presence that defined the Theros block's return to competitive Magic: The Gathering.

The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game whose distinct, luminous style captures the divine essence of the Archon. Voss utilized a soft, ethereal color palette and intricate linework to emphasize the creature's connection to the constellation-themed visuals prevalent throughout the set. Upon its release, the card received favorable attention from both casual players and competitive deck-builders, particularly for its synergistic potential with the enchantment-heavy strategies that were central to the play environment of the era.
