Azorius Chancery

The Azorius Chancery first appeared in the original Ravnica: City of Guilds set in 2005, designed to represent the bureaucratic and legalistic nature of the Azorius Senate. This specific version, issued as part of The Brothers' War Commander set in 2022, retains the original mechanical identity of a bounceland, a cycle of lands that provide two mana of different colors at the cost of returning a land to your hand. These cards are staples in the Commander format for their ability to generate mana advantage while fixing colors, though they require careful play to avoid tempo loss.

The illustration for this iteration, created by artist Titus Lunter, emphasizes the grand, rigid architecture of the Azorius guild. Lunter’s design captures the towering white spires and structured, orderly atmosphere of Ravnica's government, aligning with the color identity of white and blue magic. The release of this card in a Commander-focused set was intended to provide accessible, foundational utility cards to new players entering the format, maintaining the card's status as a reliable engine for control-oriented strategies.
