Where it came from
Bard Class was released in 2021 as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, a collaborative expansion that integrated the lore and mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons into the card game. The card is a Class enchantment, a subtype designed specifically for this set to mirror the level-up progression systems found in tabletop role-playing games, allowing players to invest mana over multiple turns to unlock increasingly powerful abilities.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized a vivid, painterly style to evoke the whimsical and heroic atmosphere of high fantasy. As a promo version, this card was distributed through various organized play channels and promotional kits to commemorate the set's release, and it was generally well-received by players for its thematic synergy with legendary creature-heavy decks and its flavorful interpretation of D&D character progression.
