Where it came from
Baxter, Fly in the Ointment is part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Eternal card set, a collection designed to celebrate the decades-long evolution of the TMNT franchise. This specific card focuses on Baxter Stockman, the brilliant but tragic scientist whose physical transformation into a fly serves as one of the most iconic narrative arcs in the original animated series and subsequent comic iterations.
The design of the card emphasizes the grotesque, high-detail aesthetic synonymous with the mutation theme, utilizing vibrant colors and stylized line art intended to evoke the frantic energy of 1980s and 90s Saturday morning cartoons. By highlighting this particular iteration of the character, the set provides fans with a nostalgic look at the villain's metamorphosis, balancing the darker elements of body horror with the playful, campy tone that defined the TMNT universe during its peak popularity.
