Baylen, the Haymaker // Baylen, the Haymaker

Baylen, the Haymaker was released as part of the Bloomburrow Art Series, a collection of cards designed to highlight the intricate illustrations found within the main Magic: The Gathering set. This specific card represents the vibrant, woodland-themed world of Bloomburrow, which debuted in 2024 to celebrate a whimsical, animal-centric fantasy aesthetic. The set draws inspiration from cozy cottagecore imagery and classic adventure literature, moving away from the traditional dark fantasy tones often associated with the game.

The artwork for Baylen was rendered by illustrator Randy Vargas, who focused on capturing the character's energetic and sturdy nature. By isolating the art from the typical mechanical layout of a game card, the Art Series allows the player to appreciate the brushwork and color palette of the character design. Upon its release, the series was received warmly by collectors who value the intersection of digital illustration and tabletop storytelling, serving as a dedicated showcase for the visual identity of the Bloomburrow plane.
