Blade-Blizzard Kitsune // Blade-Blizzard Kitsune

The Blade-Blizzard Kitsune card was released in 2022 as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Art Series. This series was designed to showcase the vivid, high-fantasy aesthetic of the Kamigawa plane, specifically highlighting the synthesis of traditional Japanese mythology and cyberpunk technology. These cards function as oversized, borderless art prints meant to celebrate the visual direction of the set, offering collectors a deeper appreciation of the creative world-building that defined this expansion.

The original illustration for this piece was crafted by artist Lie Setiawan. In this design, the artist sought to marry the ethereal, supernatural qualities of the kitsune with the sharp, futuristic equipment characteristic of the Neon Dynasty setting. Upon its release, the Art Series cards were well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community, particularly for their role as high-quality supplemental collectibles that emphasize the intersection of digital illustration and tabletop tradition.
