Where it came from
Bloodscent was released in 2003 as part of the Mirrodin expansion, the first set in a block defined by its heavy focus on artifacts and a unique metallic aesthetic. Designed for Magic: The Gathering, the card was intended to capture the predatory nature of the green-aligned creatures inhabiting the artificial, metal-infused plane of Mirrodin, where biological life struggled to adapt to a world of pure iron and chrome.
