Borborygmos and Fblthp // Borborygmos and Fblthp

Released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine Art Series, this collector card features the promotional artwork used for the duo of Borborygmos and Fblthp. The March of the Machine set served as the climactic conclusion to the multi-year Phyrexian arc in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, bringing together characters from across various planes to defend against a unified threat. This specific card highlights the unlikely pairing of the Gruul guild leader and the iconic homunculus, capturing a moment of chaotic cooperation amidst the conflict.

The card showcases the work of illustrator Steve Argyle, a prolific artist within the Magic community known for his expressive character designs and dynamic compositions. His goal with this piece was to juxtapose the immense, rugged intensity of Borborygmos with the small, confused presence of Fblthp. As part of the Art Series, these cards were intentionally designed as high-quality, frame-less tributes to the set's visual storytelling, finding favor among collectors who prioritize artistic detail over mechanical gameplay utility.
