Provenance

Where it came from

Borderland Behemoth was released in 2008 as part of the Morningtide expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As the second set in the Lorwyn block, Morningtide focused heavily on tribal synergies, introducing the 'Warrior' class theme that this card utilizes to provide a significant power boost to other creatures on the battlefield.

The card was illustrated by Dave Dorman, a prolific fantasy artist known for his atmospheric work in the Star Wars universe and various gaming properties. Dorman’s design for the Behemoth emphasizes the rugged, imposing nature of the giants native to the Lorwyn setting, utilizing a somber, earthen color palette to convey the creature's raw, physical dominance within the game's mechanics.
