Where it came from
Briarbridge Tracker was originally introduced in the 2016 Shadows over Innistrad expansion as a rare green creature card, designed to synergize with the Clue token mechanic central to that set's investigation-themed gameplay. The promo version, collector number 172s, was released as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt promotional cycle, which revisited the gothic horror plane five years later.
The card’s illustration, executed by artist Chris Rahn, captures the grim, atmospheric aesthetic characteristic of Innistrad. Rahn’s design emphasizes the rugged, solitary nature of the tracker, blending the creature’s hunter-like stance with the dark, misty backdrop of the setting. It was received by players as a solid utility card, appreciated both for its functional ability to generate and sacrifice clues and for its thematic fit within the expansion's werewolf and investigator lore.
