Where it came from
The Brotherhood Ambushers card was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaboration titled Magic: The Gathering – Assassin's Creed, which debuted in 2024. This set was designed to integrate the lore, characters, and iconic stealth-action gameplay of the Ubisoft video game franchise into the mechanics of the collectible card game, marking a significant crossover event that celebrated the series' long history.
The card’s illustration was crafted to evoke the classic Assassin’s Creed aesthetic, emphasizing the stealth and cooperative tactical nature of the Brotherhood. Designed as a common card within the set, its mechanics focus on the mechanical synergy inherent to the game's aggressive playstyle. Upon its release, it was generally well-received by fans of both franchises for its thematic faithfulness and its contribution to the deck-building potential of the Assassin-themed cards within the broader Magic ecosystem.
