Canyon Slough

Canyon Slough was originally released as part of the Amonkhet set for Magic: The Gathering in 2017, designed as part of a cycle of dual lands intended to provide mana flexibility for decks featuring specific color pairings. These cards represent the arid, desert landscapes of the plane of Amonkhet and are notable for their ability to be cycled, allowing players to discard them to draw new cards in the late game. This specific version was issued as a Secret Lair Drop, a series of curated, limited-release products that showcase unique artistic interpretations of existing cards.

The aesthetic for this iteration of Canyon Slough leans into the stylized, illustrative nature typical of the Secret Lair series, which often collaborates with various artists to subvert or reimagine the traditional fantasy art style of the game. By moving away from the standard expansion art, these releases cater to players who value visual collectibility and thematic cohesion within their card decks. Upon its release, this version was received primarily as a premium cosmetic alternative for players seeking to enhance the visual presentation of their decks while maintaining functional gameplay consistency.
