Chatterstorm // Chatterstorm

Chatterstorm was introduced in the 2021 Modern Horizons 2 set, a supplemental release for Magic: The Gathering designed specifically to introduce new cards directly into the Modern format. The set is noted for its high power level and the revival of complex mechanics, including storm, a controversial ability that allows players to copy spells based on how many others were cast in the same turn. The art series version of this card features the high-resolution, borderless illustration without the standard game text, intended primarily for collectors who appreciate the atmospheric work of the game's illustrators.

The artwork for this piece was created by artist Bryan Sola, whose work often captures dynamic, creature-focused scenes within the game's expansive multiverse. For Chatterstorm, Sola aimed to visualize the chaotic, overwhelming nature of a swarm of squirrels, using sharp detail and a vibrant color palette to emphasize the sheer volume of creatures represented by the card's mechanics. The art series cards were distributed as promotional inclusions in collector booster packs, serving as a premium showcase for the game's visual design team.
