Conspicuous Snoop

Conspicuous Snoop was released in June 2020 as part of the Core Set 2021 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed to provide a flavorful and mechanically distinct tool for Goblin-themed decks, tapping into the long-standing tradition of Goblins as chaotic, swarm-based creatures that reward players for aggressive, synergistic play patterns. The card serves as a key utility piece, allowing players to peek at the top card of their library and cast Goblins from that position, which incentivizes deck-building strategies centered around library manipulation and tribal cohesion.

The artwork was illustrated by Ryan Pancoast, who leaned into the characteristic humor and frenetic energy of the Goblin creature type. His design captures the 'snoop' thematic by depicting the creature peeking over a structure with a curious, slightly mischievous expression, perfectly fitting the mechanical function of the card. Upon its release, the card saw immediate play in competitive formats, particularly Modern, where its interaction with cards like Boggart Harbinger and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker allowed for efficient, albeit fragile, combo victories, quickly establishing it as a staple for dedicated Goblin enthusiasts.
