Provenance

Where it came from

Cosima, God of the Voyage was originally released in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering expansion Kaldheim, a set heavily inspired by Norse mythology. The card depicts a central deity of the plane, designed to represent the intersection of exploration, maritime survival, and divine prophecy. As a double-faced card, it features the goddess on the front and her legendary vessel, The Omenkeel, on the back, allowing players to bridge the gap between character-focused play and aggressive ship-themed strategies.

The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, whose work is known for its ethereal lighting and intricate character silhouettes. Within the game's competitive ecosystem, Cosima was received as a versatile card advantage engine, particularly appreciated in Commander formats for its ability to grow over time as lands are played. Its inclusion in The List serves as a periodic reprint mechanism, allowing newer players to acquire cards from past sets within contemporary booster pack releases.
