Where it came from
The Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart set was released by Fleer in 1995 as an introductory product designed to familiarize players with the mechanics of the Marvel OverPower collectible card game. These front cards, including the Counter card, served as instructional tools rather than competitive game pieces, meant to guide new players through the complexities of turn phases and game interactions.
The visual design reflects the quintessential 1990s aesthetic of Marvel Comics, utilizing high-contrast layouts and bold typography consistent with the branding of the broader OverPower line. These cards were distributed alongside starter decks to ensure that novice collectors could quickly grasp the fundamentals of play, and they are now primarily sought after by completists looking to preserve the full scope of the original card game release.
