Where it came from
The Court of Vantress was released in 2023 as part of the Wilds of Eldraine Commander set, a supplemental product designed to expand upon the high-fantasy, fairytale-inspired plane of Eldraine. The card serves as a mechanical reflection of the setting's focus on enchantment-synergy and the political maneuverings of the various courts within the kingdom.
The art was illustrated by Ekaterina Burmak, who utilized the set's aesthetic of Arthurian myth blended with vibrant, dreamlike magic. The design focuses on the 'Monarch' mechanic, which encourages active player interaction by rewarding the holder of the title, fitting the theme of a royal court vying for control and influence within the narrative framework of the game.
