Crow of Dark Tidings

Crow of Dark Tidings was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Game Night 2019 box set, a standalone product designed to introduce casual players to the game. Released in November 2019, the set was curated as a ready-to-play board game experience, featuring five pre-constructed decks that highlighted different color philosophies. This specific card was included as part of the black deck, which focused on graveyard synergies and the manipulation of life totals.

The card features artwork by Igor Kieryluk, whose work often leans into the dark, atmospheric aesthetics associated with the game's necromantic themes. In keeping with its design as a lower-rarity utility creature, the illustration emphasizes the crow as an ominous herald, utilizing high-contrast shadows and muted tones to convey its function as a mill-enabling card. It remains a functional piece of Magic's expanded mid-tier card pool, valued primarily for its role in enabling graveyard-based strategies within limited-play environments.
