Darigaaz's Attendant

Darigaaz's Attendant was released in 2000 as part of the Invasion expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set introduced a heavy emphasis on multicolor cards and dragons, centered around the lore of the plane of Dominaria and the struggle against the Phyrexian invasion. The card depicts a minion serving the dragon Darigaaz, one of the Primeval Dragons, fitting into the set's broader narrative of regional defenders banding together against a planar threat.

The card's illustration was created by artist Daren Bader, who contributed extensively to the visual identity of Magic: The Gathering during this era. Bader’s design leans into the high-fantasy aesthetic of the early 2000s, utilizing a gritty, textured style to convey the harsh environment of Dominaria. Upon its release, the card was received primarily as a functional common, utilized by players in limited draft environments to help bridge the color requirements necessitated by the set's complex multicolor mana base.
