Deceiver of Form

Deceiver of Form was released in 2016 as part of the Oath of the Gatewatch expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As a mythic rare card in a set centered on the battle against the Eldrazi titans, it was designed to capture the unsettling, reality-warping essence of those otherworldly antagonists. The card's mechanics allow players to transform their other creatures into copies of the Deceiver, reflecting the Eldrazi's ability to mutate and consume the physical laws of the Zendikar plane.

The illustration was created by Aleksi Briclot, a long-time contributor to the game known for his distinct, atmospheric style. Briclot focused on the alien geometry and imposing scale of the creature, emphasizing the sense of dread and existential distortion inherent to the Eldrazi faction.
