Desperate Measures // Desperate Measures

Desperate Measures was released as part of the Art Series for the Tarkir: Dragonstorm set, a curated collection designed to showcase the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These art cards are special inserts intended to highlight the intricate work of the illustrators behind the expansion, providing a larger, text-free format that allows for greater appreciation of the visual storytelling embedded in the game's world-building.

The illustration for this card reflects the dynamic and volatile environment of Tarkir, a plane defined by its draconic themes and internal conflicts. Created by the concept team at Wizards of the Coast, the artwork aims to capture a moment of high tension, utilizing sweeping compositions and dramatic lighting to evoke the desperation implied by the title. The card has been well-received within the hobbyist community for its contribution to the set’s cohesive aesthetic and the high production quality of the card stock used in the series.
