Dusk Imp

Dusk Imp was originally released as a common black creature in the Invasion expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2000. It later appeared as card number 34 in the 2009 Duel Decks: Divine vs. Demonic set, which was designed to highlight the recurring thematic conflict between angelic and demonic forces within the game's lore. This specific iteration recycled the original artwork by Greg Staples, who captured the creature's sinister aesthetic with a dark, atmospheric rendering intended to fit the visceral horror motifs associated with the demonic side of the deck.

The Duel Decks series was initiated by Wizards of the Coast to provide pre-constructed, balanced play experiences for both newcomers and veteran players. The inclusion of Dusk Imp in this release served a mechanical purpose, functioning as a low-cost flying threat to help the Demonic deck maintain pressure in the early game.
