The card belongs to a cycle of 'legendary-style' non-basic lands that create creature tokens when they enter the battlefield, provided the player controls three or more basic lands of a specific color. This design was intended to provide utility for mono-colored decks, rewarding players for commitment to a single mana source while offering a repeatable token generation engine that functions as a mana sink in the late game.

The artwork was commissioned from Alexander Forssberg, whose work often features high-fantasy environments with a focus on scale and atmospheric detail. In this piece, Forssberg captures the subterranean, industrial nature of a dwarven forge, emphasizing the gritty, volcanic aesthetic associated with the race in the Eldraine setting.
