Eaten by Piranhas // Eaten by Piranhas

Eaten by Piranhas is a card from the Art Series set released alongside The Lost Caverns of Ixalan in late 2023. These cards were designed as collectibles to highlight the detailed illustrations commissioned for the expansion, which drew inspiration from Mesoamerican mythology and high-adventure subterranean exploration. Unlike standard game cards, these pieces are printed on premium cardstock with a matte finish, serving as high-quality prints of the original digital art.

The artwork for this specific card was created by illustrator Manuel Castañón, who collaborated with Wizards of the Coast to capture the chaotic energy of the Ixalan setting. His design process focused on the visceral, bioluminescent aesthetic characteristic of the cavernous environments in the set. Upon release, the Art Series cards were generally well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community, valued primarily as aesthetic artifacts for enthusiasts and art collectors rather than for competitive gameplay utility.
