Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim

Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim was introduced in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering set Dominaria United, serving as a legendary creature card that highlights the Phyrexian invasion of the iconic plane of Dominaria. The character represents the Kor people, a nomadic race native to several planes, now depicted here under the influence of Phyrexian corruption. The card was designed to function as a cornerstone for Orzhov-aligned decks, rewarding players for creatures entering or leaving the battlefield.

The card features artwork by illustrative artist Simon Dominic. The visual direction focuses on the grim, biomechanical aesthetic synonymous with the New Phyrexian faction, blending the traditional religious iconography of the Kor with the jagged, metallic scarring of Phyrexian compleation. It was well-received by the player base for its efficient utility in multiplayer formats like Commander, where its ability to drain opponents' life totals provides a steady, attrition-based game plan.
