Where it came from
Electric Revelation was released in 2021 as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set returned to the gothic horror-themed plane of Innistrad, focusing on themes of duality, sunlight, and the survival of humanity against encroaching supernatural threats. The card mechanically captures the frantic, high-risk nature of magical experimentation, allowing players to draw cards at the cost of discarding their hand, reflecting the desperation of the set's central narrative.
The artwork, illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, depicts a researcher channeling volatile energy in a dimly lit laboratory, emphasizing the set's focus on alchemy and science gone wrong. The design follows the established aesthetic of the plane, utilizing a somber, muted color palette punctuated by the sharp, electric blues of the magic being harnessed. It received positive attention from competitive players for its efficiency as a card-selection tool, becoming a staple in formats that utilize graveyard synergies.
