Enchanted Evening

Enchanted Evening was originally printed as a rare card in the 1997 Magic: The Gathering set Mirage. Designed by the team at Wizards of the Coast, it was created as an enchantment that turns all permanents on the battlefield into enchantments, a unique rules-bending effect that allowed for complex synergy with cards that destroy or interact with that card type. The artwork was illustrated by Rebecca Guay, whose distinctive, painterly style became highly sought after by players and collectors throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The card was later included in 'The List', a curated selection of reprints integrated into set boosters to introduce players to classic cards from the game's long history. The inclusion of the Mirage version in this format maintained its original design and Guay's evocative illustration, keeping it accessible to newer generations of players while honoring its place in the game's mechanical evolution. It remains a notable example of the creative risks taken by designers during the early years of the game's development.
