Enchantment Alteration

Enchantment Alteration was released in the 1995 Magic: The Gathering set Chronicles, a compilation set designed to reprint popular or out-of-print cards from early expansions like Legends. The card was originally featured in the 1994 Legends set, which introduced the concept of gold-bordered multicolored cards to the game. By including it in Chronicles, Wizards of the Coast sought to make older, mechanically useful cards more accessible to a growing player base during the mid-nineties.

The card features artwork by Susan Van Camp, whose illustrative style during the game's early years helped define the fantasy aesthetic of the era. The illustration depicts a stylized, flowing magical effect consistent with the card's function of moving an enchantment from one permanent to another. As an uncommon card, it was noted for its tactical utility in blue-aligned control decks, allowing players to shift powerful enchantments to better targets as the board state evolved.
