Provenance

Where it came from

Ever After was released in 2020 as part of the Commander 2020 set, specifically featured in the Timeless Wisdom deck. This set was designed to support the Commander format, focusing on powerful multi-player mechanics. The card functions as a graveyard-recursion spell, reflecting the theme of life, death, and cycling that dominated the deck's gameplay strategy.

The artwork for this card was created by Seb McKinnon, a prominent illustrator in the Magic: The Gathering community known for his ethereal and surreal style. His design aimed to evoke a sense of solemn, folkloric resurrection, utilizing soft, haunting imagery to represent the return of creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield. The card was well-received by players for its artistic merit and its utility in decks that benefit from manipulating discard piles.
