Faerie Conclave

Faerie Conclave was originally printed in the 1999 expansion Urza's Legacy, designed as part of a cycle of land cards that could animate into creatures. This cycle reflected the set's focus on complex artifacts and magical landscapes, providing players with utility in the late game by turning untapped mana sources into attacking threats. The card was illustrated by Heather Hudson, whose work during this era of Magic: The Gathering helped define the ethereal and high-fantasy aesthetic of the game.

The version appearing in The List—a curated selection of reprints inserted into Set Boosters starting in 2020—reintroduces the card to modern players. By including it in The List, Wizards of the Coast acknowledged the card's enduring utility in Commander and other formats, where its ability to evade sorcery-speed removal while providing colored mana remains tactically relevant. Its inclusion maintains the visual history of the original printing while allowing newer collectors to acquire a piece of late-90s card design.
