Flourishing Hunter was originally released in the 2021 set Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and subsequently included in the 2022 release Innistrad: Double Feature. The latter was a curated set designed to showcase the two primary Innistrad expansions of that year, utilizing a unique monochromatic, silver-screen-inspired aesthetic to unify the art styles of both sets. This specific iteration of the card features that distinctive greyscale treatment, emphasizing the Gothic horror themes central to the plane of Innistrad.

The card's art was created by illustrator Svetlin Velinov, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering franchise. For this piece, Velinov sought to capture the predatory grace of the werewolf creature type within the dark, forested environment of Kessig. Upon its release, players noted how the stark high-contrast visual design of the Double Feature printing brought a different perspective to the original card's composition, often sparking discussion about the stylistic direction of the supplemental set.
