Where it came from
The Founding of Omashu card, indexed as number 116 in the Avatar: The Last Airbender Eternal set, was produced to celebrate the lore and rich cultural history of the Earth Kingdom within the animated series. It serves as a visual record of the legendary tale of Oma and Shu, the first earthbenders who developed their craft by observing badgermoles to navigate the mountains and connect their divided villages. This card commemorates the romantic and structural origins of the city, focusing on the architectural marvels born from their union.
The design of the card utilizes key frame art from the episode 'The Cave of Two Lovers,' where the story of the city’s inception is recounted. The artistic direction emphasizes the earthy, textured aesthetic characteristic of the franchise, aiming to ground the card in the series' established visual language. Within the set, it is categorized as a narrative piece, intended to provide collectors with a deeper understanding of the world-building that shaped the series' central conflict and mythology.
