Fractured Powerstone

Fractured Powerstone was released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine Commander set. Mechanically rooted in Magic: The Gathering's long-standing tradition of mana-fixing artifacts, the card serves as a functional reprint that provides players with a way to accelerate their mana development in the early stages of a game, while offering a secondary ability that allows for extra turns if the player can manipulate the top of their deck.

The artwork was commissioned from Rob Alexander, a long-time contributor to the game whose distinct, painterly style is well-recognized by the community. Alexander was tasked with visualizing a damaged powerstone—a core piece of lore technology within the setting—and his depiction captures the fractured, energetic nature of the artifact. The card was received as a solid, reliable common, appreciated primarily for its utility in Commander deck-building rather than its aesthetic complexity.
