Furious Resistance

Furious Resistance was released in February 2013 as part of the Gatecrash expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Set on the cityscape plane of Ravnica, the card depicts the ongoing conflict between the various guilds vying for control of the metropolis. As a common instant spell, it was designed primarily to serve as a functional combat trick for Limited play environments, allowing players to boost a creature's power and grant it first strike to shift the momentum of a board state.

The artwork was commissioned from Polish artist Slawomir Maniak, who has been a consistent contributor to the game’s visual identity for over a decade. Maniak utilized his signature style to capture the kinetic energy of a soldier in the midst of a desperate clash, emphasizing the gritty, high-stakes atmosphere characteristic of the Boros Legion. The card was well-received by players of the era as a reliable, efficient tool for aggressive deck strategies within the Gatecrash draft format.
