Galvanic Bombardment

Galvanic Bombardment was released in July 2016 as part of the Eldritch Moon expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Set on the plane of Innistrad, the expansion explored themes of cosmic horror and corruption as the Eldrazi titan Emrakul began to warp the world. The card depicts a classic pyromantic spell being utilized by desperate inhabitants, fitting the set’s narrative focus on frantic, volatile magic used to combat encroaching madness.

The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his expressive, painterly style. Voss designed the piece to convey raw, kinetic energy, utilizing stark lighting and high-contrast effects to capture the explosive nature of the spell.
