Garruk, Veiled Butcher // Garruk, Curse Breaker // Garruk, Veiled Butcher // Garruk, Curse Breaker

Garruk, Veiled Butcher and Garruk, Curse Breaker appear as part of the Reality Fracture Art Series, a niche collection highlighting the intricate, often surreal visual identity of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. These specific cards were produced to showcase the evolution of the Garruk character, emphasizing his transformation under the influence of the Chain Veil. By isolating the art from the functional game mechanics, the series invites collectors to focus on the narrative shift from a wilderness hunter to a more sinister, cursed figure.

The visual design of these cards draws from the established aesthetic language of modern fantasy illustration, prioritizing high-contrast lighting and textured detailing to convey the character's internal turmoil. Artists working within the Reality Fracture series were tasked with stripping away traditional card frames to allow the composition to occupy the foreground, effectively treating each piece as a character study. Upon release, the series was well-received by those interested in the artistic development of iconic planeswalkers, as it offers a clean, atmospheric look at the character's darker iterations.
