Geist of the Moors

Geist of the Moors was originally introduced in the Magic: The Gathering set Avacyn Restored in 2012. It represents the spirit-haunted landscape of the plane of Innistrad, a setting defined by Gothic horror tropes, where the boundary between the living and the dead is often thin. As a common creature, it serves as a staple of the set's limited environment, designed to embody the theme of flying spirits that defined the white-aligned archetypes of the block.

The artwork, created by Aaron Miller, captures the ethereal and melancholic nature of the card's subject. Miller utilized a cold, desaturated color palette and soft, ghostly brushwork to evoke a sense of haunting permanence. Upon its inclusion in The List—a curated selection of cards from Magic's history reprinted for inclusion in modern booster packs—the card found a renewed presence, allowing players to revisit its evocative design and utility within the context of contemporary gameplay.
