Geistcatcher's Rig

Geistcatcher's Rig debuted in the Innistrad Remastered set, serving as a mechanical homage to the gothic horror themes established in the original Innistrad block. In the game's lore, such equipment reflects the desperate measures taken by the human inhabitants of the plane to defend themselves against the encroaching supernatural threats of ghosts, vampires, and werewolves. The design prioritizes utility in combat, manifesting as an artifact that interacts directly with the creature types defining the set's survival-focused narrative.

The card’s visual direction was crafted to evoke the rugged, industrial aesthetic characteristic of Innistrad’s craftsmanship, where iron and salvaged materials are repurposed for monster hunting. By consolidating various mechanics from the original Innistrad era, the design team aimed to balance nostalgic gameplay loops with the specific power levels of a remastered environment. It was received as a functional addition to artifact-themed archetypes, appreciated by players for its thematic resonance with the plane's grim aesthetic.
