Where it came from
Generous Patron was released in 2022 as part of the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate expansion, specifically within the Party Time preconstructed deck. The card is designed to mechanically support the party mechanic, which rewards players for controlling creatures of specific classes, while simultaneously serving as a source of card draw that emphasizes the social, collaborative nature of the Commander format.
The illustration was created by artist Livia Prima, who rendered the subject in the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Dungeons & Dragons crossover sets. The design aims to capture the essence of a benevolent benefactor providing resources to an adventuring party, utilizing a warm color palette to reinforce the card's theme of communal support and strategic generosity.
