Where it came from
Glissa Sunseeker first appeared as a legendary creature in the 2003 Magic: The Gathering set Mirrodin. Designed as an elven champion caught in the biomechanical evolution of her home plane, she represents the fusion of organic nature and cold metal, a theme that defined the Mirrodin block's aesthetic identity and mechanical focus on artifacts.
This specific iteration, released as part of a Secret Lair drop, reinterprets the character through the stylistic lens of artist Johannes Voss. Known for his ethereal and painterly approach, Voss sought to highlight Glissa’s dual nature during her transformation. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for both its refined artistic direction and its contribution to the expanded visual history of one of the game's most enduring lore figures.
