Where it came from
Glorious Sunrise is a rare enchantment card introduced in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Innistrad: Crimson Vow. The set explores a gothic horror narrative centered on a vampiric wedding, and this specific card represents the thematic shift toward hope and rebirth following the set's darker, creature-heavy focus. Its design fits into the traditional green color identity of the game, emphasizing utility through flexible modes like card draw, land acceleration, and creature buffing.
The artwork for the card was created by illustrator Zezhou Chen, who utilized a lush, ethereal visual style to contrast with the pervasive gloom associated with the Innistrad setting. The illustration depicts a radiant, natural scene that serves as a mechanical and visual reprieve from the set's darker motifs. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile staple for casual commander formats, prized for its ability to provide consistent value over several turns.
