Goblin Blastronauts

The set draws heavy inspiration from mid-century retro-futurism and space-age aesthetics, aiming to capture the wonder and campiness of vintage science fiction serials.

The card was illustrated by Dave Allsop, a long-time contributor to the Magic: The Gathering franchise known for his gritty and imaginative creature designs. For this piece, Allsop leaned into the chaotic, slapstick nature of the goblin archetype by portraying them as ill-equipped space explorers. The design was received as a lighthearted nod to the 'space goblin' trope, emphasizing the humorous contrast between the grandeur of space travel and the inherently volatile nature of the goblin race.
