Goblin Diplomats

Goblin Diplomats was first released as a rare card in the Magic 2014 Core Set and appeared shortly thereafter as a promotional card for the set's release events. The card was designed to embody the chaotic and often self-defeating nature of Goblins in the Magic: The Gathering universe, forcing opponents to attack each other or the player if they were able. This design leaned into the red color identity's penchant for recklessness and unpredictable combat.

The artwork for this version was illustrated by Kev Walker, a prolific contributor to the game known for his gritty and expressive character designs. Walker aimed to capture a humorous yet frantic scene that mirrored the card’s forced-combat mechanics. Upon its release, players noted the card for its niche utility in multiplayer formats like Commander, where its ability to disrupt board states provided a unique, albeit high-variance, strategic tool.
