Goblin // Soldier

The Goblin // Soldier double-sided token was released in 2018 as part of the Guilds of Ravnica Guild Kits. These kits were designed to provide thematic, playable decks representing the ten distinct guilds of the Ravnica plane, serving as a nostalgic celebration of the setting's history. The tokens were included to facilitate the mechanics of cards like 'Goblin Instigator' and various Boros-aligned spells, ensuring players had a consistent physical representation for their battlefield effects during casual play.

The design of these tokens follows the cohesive visual identity established for the Ravnica block, focusing on the contrasting aesthetics of the chaotic Goblins and the organized, militaristic Soldiers. The art direction emphasizes the distinct cultural roles these creatures play within the city-world, utilizing the signature art style of the modern Magic: The Gathering era to ensure clarity on the table. Upon release, these Guild Kits were well-received by the player base as an accessible way to engage with the lore and mechanics of the guilds.
