Graveborn Muse

Graveborn Muse was originally introduced in the Legions set in 2003, designed as a powerful representative of the Zombie tribe within the Magic: The Gathering card game. The card embodies the high-risk, high-reward nature of black mana mechanics, allowing players to draw cards at the expense of their own life total. This reprint in the Foundations Commander set maintains the card's original mechanical identity, serving as a staple utility piece for graveyard-focused decks that prioritize card advantage.

The illustrative history of Graveborn Muse often leans into the gothic and macabre aesthetic associated with black-aligned creatures. The artwork seeks to convey the chilling intersection of death and intellect, depicting the muse as a conduit for forbidden knowledge. Over the years, the card has been well-received by the Commander community for its scaling effectiveness in multiplayer games, where the ability to draw multiple cards per turn can quickly shift the momentum of a match.
