Guardian Zendikon

Guardian Zendikon was originally released in the Worldwake expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2010, designed as a part of a cycle of cards that represented the living lands of the plane of Zendikar. It was later reprinted in the 2014 Conspiracy set, which featured a unique draft-based gameplay experience. The design intent behind the Zendikon cycle was to capture the flavor of the set's setting, where the land itself rises up to defend the plane against the encroaching Eldrazi threat.

The artwork for the card was provided by illustrator Jason Felix, whose work emphasizes the volatile, shifting nature of the Zendikar landscape. Upon its initial release and subsequent inclusion in the Conspiracy set, the card was viewed by players primarily as a limited-format utility piece, favored for its ability to transform basic lands into creatures that could survive board wipes by returning to the hand when destroyed.
